Bold prayers honor God and God honors bold prayers. We are praying and dreaming BIG at Overflow Church and we know God can do more than we ask or imagine. He invites us to draw a circle around those dreams and pray until we see them become a reality. God has strategically placed our church in the middle of a great harvest for such a time as this! God is inviting you and me into this journey.

How To Pray

Pray and Listen. Ask God to show you what is on His heart for our church & community. Write down anything you see or feel.

Pray Positively. Focus on God’s plan, purpose, and dream for our church & community. Express gratitude and listen to His calling.

Pray with an Attitude of Worship. Worship is an encounter with the Holy Spirit. Part of our prayer walk experience can be through thanksgiving, praise & worship, and repentance.

Pray from Scripture. Prayers based directly on God’s word can be especially powerful. Bring your bible or copy verses on note cards to keep key passages highlighted.

Pray in God’s Power. Allow time for the Holy Spirit to speak to you or through you. Be obedient to His voice in specific areas to pray.

Pray with Open Eyes & Ears. “Praying on site, with insight.” Walking in a particular place brings an intercession to our prayers. We’re not just imagining it from the comfort of our prayer room - we’re there, seeing it, hearing it, experiencing it, and that means God can speak to us through the things we see and hear.

What to Pray

PRAY FOR HARVEST

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into the harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38

Pray for the hundreds or thousands of people God wants to send us - people in need of salvation, healing, and freedom.

PRAY FOR HOLY GROUND

Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5

Pray that this land will be holy ground where people hear God’s voice and will be made open to the working & leading of the Holy Spirit.

PRAY FOR SAFETY

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:9-16

Pray for the skilled laborers and craftsmen to whom the Lord has given ability and willingness to do the work that they will stay safe and unharmed.

PRAY FOR UNITY

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Ephesians 4:1-5

Pray for the body of Christ to remain in one accord. Ask for help to set aside our differences and look to the greater cause, the cause of Christ - and truly live a life of grace and love.

PRAY FOR SALVATION

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Pray that those who have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will come to a saving relationship with God and His offer of forgiveness and eternal life.

PRAY FOR BLESSING

Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. Psalm 112:1-3

Pray over every person, home, and business represented in this church community. Ask for God’s intervention in each generation to serve, give, and pray so that each one can be fruitful in God’s Kingdom.

PRAY FOR LIGHT

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Pray that we would have bold faith, be courageous, and be a light in this community. Be a place that will proclaim the name of Jesus and be His hands and feet.
